the gold we use is all 100% recycled / reclaimed gold processed in THE U.S. it is the highest quality gold you can get!

SOLID GOLD: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

  • 10k is the lowest karat we use in the United States that is considered solid gold. You will see 9ct, especially from Australia, which is also considered solid gold. it is composed of 41.7% pure gold, and the other 52.3% is a blend of different metals and alloys.

  • 14K is composed of 58.5% pure gold and the other 31.5% is a blend of different metals and alloys.

  • 18K is composed of 75% pure gold and 25% blended different metals and alloys.

  • 24k is 100% pure gold.

WHY DO WE MIX SOLID GOLD WITH OTHER METALS?

  • Pure gold itself is soft! Jewelers blend it with other metals to make it stronger. A lower karat means your jewelry is stronger (you don’t see a lot of 24k rings for this reason!), while a higher karat means the jewelry is more tarnish resistant and a brighter yellow.

  • We like white gold and rose gold! In order to create other gold colors, we mix pure 24k gold (always yellow) with base metals that bring out rosy or white (or green or red!) colors.

WHAT GOLD IS RIGHT FOR ME?

  • Whatever you like best! That’s the short answer.

  • Color: We offer rose gold only in 14k. Yellow and white we offer in 14k and 18k.

  • Hue: Do you like the brighter yellow of 18k? Or the softer yellow of 14k?

  • Cost: 18k is significantly higher than 14k because of the pure gold content.

WHY DOES GOLD COST SO MUCH MORE THAN SILVER?

  • Gold has always been one of the most coveted of earth’s treasures so this drives the price up!

  • Gold is priced on the market, so its value changes all the time.

  • Gold takes a lot of work to refine properly to make sure you are getting the highest quality metal possible.

  • All the solders and tools used to work with gold cost more than those used for silver.

CAN YOU MAKE JEWELRY FOR ME WITH MY OLD JEWELRY I DON’T WEAR ANYMORE?
